Welcome to Amputees Helping Amputees

The Amputees Helping Amputees Support Group meets the second Tuesday of every month from 6:00 PM until 7:30 pm on the 4th floor of Calvert Memorial Hospital in the activity room. The support group provides amputees and their families the chance to interact with others who have experienced limb loss and to learn more about related issues. The amputee support group was started September, 01.

The group addresses such topics as "Dealing with Limb Loss," What's New in Prosthetic Devices," "Skin Care," "Phantom Pain," Traveling with a Disability," Nutrition and Exercise." There are occasional guest speakers as well. The group is involved in activities such as bowling and have their yearly Amputee Extravaganza held at Jefferson-Patterson Park and Museum in St. Leonard, MD complete with live music, vendor displays, education, and it's catered!

There is no cost for the support group meetings and refreshments are served. The Amputee Support Group meetings are open to everyone.
