How many times have you heard that? Now we can head this call again, not only for ourselves, but for our Walking Wounded at our military hospitals. We have Wounded Warriors from all branches of our military sitting in hospitals with little or nothing to do. These men and women are there healing from wounds they suffered from doing their jobs. They need our help! Recently we were asked to initiate a new type of support for the out-patients. We were asked to provide weekday and weekend, non-alcoholic activities, such as movies, dinners and short trips to various events. There is not enough members in any single group to volunteer each and every day, 365 days a year. But, guess what!... the wounded sit there 24 / 7, 365 days a year! We can help solve this problem. Discussions with various veteran organizations are taking place at this time. By combining our efforts and channeling thru a single source for scheduling, we can provide a lot of what is needed. A monthly calendar of events is posted at bottom of page. This will be coded with scheduled events and open days available. Note: All prospective events have to be cleared in advance thru the hospital regular routine. "NO Exceptions!" Procedure: 1. Select your availability date(s). 2. Send email to Don Patterson at don@oohrah.net or call (301) 274-0100. 3. Describe in detail your event proposal. Include cost and any special considerations. 4. Your event will be forwarded to the committee and checked with hospital staff. 5. You will be notified as to status prior to being entered on to Liberty Call calendar. Event re-imbursement is difficult, we have no funds or busses! Please ask your organization to keep both in mind and fund your event prior to submission. Thank you in advance. Please do not get discouraged if your selected date has another event scheduled. We plan on multiple events taking place on the same date in different locations from time to time. If your organization wishes to participate in our program, but does not have a scheduled event, you can select from our "Open Events" page. Please remember 'your organization is expected to fund' the selected event. Thank you in advance.
